DARE TO DREAM

Creating a God-sized Mission Statement for Your Life
A Congregation-wide Experience for the Fall of 2018

This Fall every member of our Chapel Family is invited to come together and dare to dream about God’s call on their lives, to create their own personal life mission statement, and to commit to living it out. The goal is that every man, woman, teenager, and child in our Chapel will spend six sessions together to create a “God-sized mission statement for their lives.”

Here’s the idea: Two years ago, we as a church, spent time discussing, writing, and refining the vision and mission statements for our Chapel. Now, to continue to accomplish those goals we need to explore how each one of us will contribute to fulfilling the dream that we have for our church and also the God-dream we have for ourselves as individuals.

Reverend Mike Slaughter and friends have written materials to guide all ages of folks through this process. Listen to what some have said about Mike’s work:

“Mike Slaughter has led many of us to dare to dream, and to be in mission with Jesus Christ. Now, in this fast-paced, challenging, and practical book, Mike shows us how each of us can respond to God’s claim on our lives.”
Will Willimon, Professor, Duke Divinity School

“Dare to Dream is classic Mike Slaughter - be honest about yourself, your life, and your faith. Listen to God’s dream for you. Choose to embrace it and find the peace and contentment you seek.”
Mary Bendall, Senior Pastor, Helena United Methodist Church

We begin September 9th which is Rally Day for our new year of Christian Education.

Children
Sally Hoelscher, Christian educator and retreat leader, has translated Mike’s work into a message for children that teaches them about their gifts and the richness of God’s developing plans for their lives. Beginning Sunday, September 9 the children of the Chapel will be divided into two age groups and their Sunday School time will be spent in search of God’s dream for their lives through games, play acting, crafts, and teachings.

Senior High Youth
September will see the development of the first ever Chapel Youth Group that will meet at 4:00 on Sunday afternoons followed by a meal. We begin with three very special youth members and plan for this fellowship to continue long after these six learning and organizing sessions.

Jenny Youngman, veteran youth worker, songwriter, and author has translated Mike’s work into a message for teenagers to begin to chart a course for their lives by considering God’s dream for them and beginning to create a life mission statement that they can grow into and learn from.

Adults - Three Options

Sunday Morning at 10:20 - The Vernelle Otter Class
On September 9th our existing adult class will suspend it’s present study to join the congregation in studying Mike Slaughter’s Dare to Dream. You are invited to attend this class for these six sessions and explore God’s dream for your life and learn how to live it out prayerfully and enthusiastically.

Friday Morning - 10:00
On Friday, September 14 at 10:00 to 11:30 we will begin studying the same material as the Vernelle Otter Class. For those of you who find Friday morning a good time, we welcome you to this stud

Sunday Evening - 5:00 Covered dish, 6:00 Study with Childcare

***This gathering is targeted for our “younger adults” and is intended to be an ongoing fellowship***

Beginning Sunday, September 9th, we will gather for a covered dish meal and welcome the new Chapel Youth Fellowship to join us. Following the meal, for the first six weeks we will engage Mike’s Dare to Dream study and childcare will be provided. During this six weeks of teaching we will also be organizing ourselves for future studies, mission projects, and fun outings.

You see, with all these offerings, every single one of us should be able to find a time and a group with which to spend six weeks of fellowship and study. Please sign up today.
